Adults inhabit coral-rich areas of seaward reef slopes and deep lagoons. Feed on zooplankton a short distance from the bottom. Usually seen solitary on mixed coral and rubble patches. Oviparous, distinct pairing during breeding. Eggs are demersal and adhere to the substrate.
