Adults occur in lagoon and outer reefs in pairs and small groups. Monogamous. A protandrous hermaphrodite. Oviparous, distinct pairing during breeding. Eggs are demersal and adhere to the substrate. Males guard and aerate the egg. Associated with the anemones: Heteractis crispa and Stichodactyla mertensii.
