Found in various coral reef habitats from estuaries to outer reef lagoons to about 20 m depth, but usually more common on shallow reef flat at the 6 m mark. Cryptic usually on corals and sponges of isolated outcrops. Oviparous. Eggs are demersal and adhesive, and are attached to the substrate via a filamentous, adhesive pad or pedestal.
