Found in small groups in live corals of lagoons and sheltered coastal reefs at 1-15 m deep. In Papua New Guinea, various individuals were seen swimming around large coral heads on reef slopes and would not rest on the corals like those seen in Indonesia. Oviparous. Eggs are demersal and adhesive, and are attached to the substrate via a filamentous, adhesive pad or pedestal. Larvae are planktonic, often found in shallow, coastal waters.
