Adults inhabit sheltered, shallow reefs, hiding among live or dead coral branches. From estuaries to outer reef lagoons, 2-12 m deep. Solitary. Oviparous. Eggs are demersal and adhesive, and are attached to the substrate via a filamentous, adhesive pad or pedestal.
